The Wyoming State Library held its first Wyoming Book Festival in 2007. The festival was a few years coming and had nearly 5,000 people and more than 70 authors. The first day of the two-day festival was held in conjuction with the release of the Wyoming quarter.
The book festival is held every other year, alternating with the Equality State Book Festival held in Casper. In consideration of the economy and feedback from the last festival, WSL and the Center for the Book has chosen to create a smaller festival and feature eight well-known area authors.
